This weekend we rallied up near Moosilauke two days in a row. Saturday we caught the Gale River near Franconia at a nice level. A mile and a half of fun class 2-3 rock dodging, and then a pretty fun gorge with a few class 3+ / 4 drops. Beautiful river, and not roadside, which is saying something around here. Then we drove over to North Woodstock and put on the EB Pemi for a late evening run. It was at around 2000 cfs and proved to be a juicy and fun class 4 run with plenty of rocks to boof and holes to dodge. A few of us were tired from the Gale so we jumped out early (the EB Pemi is roadside), but there were no mishaps to speak of. Swims at 2000 or above would be really difficult to deal with though - the river starts to get very continuous.
Sunday a different crew returned to the EB Pemi with half the water. It was still a fun run at 1000, with a lot more rock and pourover dodging. We had a few swims, but nothing unmanageable and had a great time enjoying the sun on the first hot day of the sun. A tremendously successful weekend!
