Whitewater!
The Ledyard Canoe Club has a long history with whitewater. The club was an olympic training ground early in the history of the sport, and has grown into a large community of whitewater paddlers of all abilities. We lead trips all over the northeast, teach people who have never been in a boat before to roll and read water, and take a yearly spring break trip down to Asheville, North Carolina as well as a winter break trip to Ecuador. So many have learned to love paddling at Ledyard, and they've passed on that love to the next generation, and so on.
Want to get involved?
Come to our weekly meetings ("Council") on Monday nights from 9-10 in the basement of Robinson Hall (or at the Ledyard clubhouse in the summer) or to the feed, a home-cooked meal on Thursday afternoon (usually around 6:00) at the Ledyard clubhouse (It's $4 DASH or cash). Even better, get on the Ledyard blitzlist and hear about all our events and opportunities to go paddling - to get on the list blitz (email) [email protected].
Thinking of Coming to Dartmouth?
If you're a prospective student interested in paddling opportunities at Dartmouth, let us know (contact us!) - Ledyard is an awesome place to be if you're into whitewater paddling. It's one of the best college paddling clubs in the country, and we are really lucky to have a ton of resources, from a cage full of playboats and creekboats to the Davis Kirby Adventure Fund, which finances student-led expeditions to places like Ecuador, Chile, Thailand, the Grand Canyon, and more (it also supports flatwater trips to places like the Everglades in Florida). The point is, dear prospective student, Ledyard is awesome and we want you to come here and paddle with us!
